Re: Life saving properties of
EvacuTape validated under real world conditions
It takes an emergency responder to know what tools are really needed in
the field.
Over the last three years, I designed developed
and patented
EvacuTape Safety Labels™ in response to frustration and
inefficiency that cost time during crisis situations. I was looking for
a simple tool to help me transfer vital information in hazardous,
low-lighting, wet chaotic conditions. I couldn't find this kind of tool
anywhere.
You probably
already know this, there should be two goals in any emergency.
1) Save the Victims
and
2) Protect the First
Responders.
EvacuTape Safety Labels™
facilitates both. Let me show you how. Watch this short video that
demonstrates how these labels can be used to save time when seconds
count for victims in an emergency, and increase the safety of the
emergency personnel.
EvacuTape functions as a label, OR as a tape, and eliminates the need for many different products in the field. EvacuTape’s wide surface and
protective liner allows you to write on it while it is still on the roll
without wrinkling the tape! EvacuTape’s
reflective edges allow
you to find it in low light. The waterproof surface
allows you to read what you write even in inclement weather, and the
best function of all is that perforations
allow you to rip it easily without need for scissors and
apply without removing
your gloves!
How many times in an emergency have you
written vital signs or other information on your gloves, or even the
patient? Did you ever write information down on a sheet of notepaper, and
after several patients, realize you weren't certain which information
went with which patient? Or dropped the note. Losing valuable
information?
EvacuTape is easy to write on.
The protective liner allows you to write without crumpling the tape,
and the perforated edges let you rip it cleanly and effortlessly
with your hands (no scissors needed) and apply smoothly to any
surface, without removing your gloves. The perforations allow you to
rip one 4”label or a several yard strip, and the liner extends past
the edges, protects the tape strips until you are ready to apply and
makes this glove friendly to work with.
How often do emergencies happen in bright
sunny conditions? Most large emergencies happen in the dark or in
inclement weather, where much of written information is washed away or
smudged beyond recognition.
EvacuTape's textured waterproof
surface protects important data from smudging, and "rub-offs"
and allows you to write with pens, pencils, or markers. The tape
remains sticky, even if it becomes damp.
Have you ever stopped off-duty at a dimly
lit roadside emergency without your safety gear? How often have people
volunteered assistance, without anything to indicate they are helping,
and are at risk without reflective safety gear to preserve their lives?
With EvacuTape's reflective edges,
locating important objects, people, or information in low or dim
light is quick and easy. The reflective edges create
"safety clothing on a
roll”. Before volunteering in a badly lit area, apply
strips of EvacuTape to your clothing, making you instantly visible.
This has combined the uses of the old
tapes you have used in the past, but I have added, reflective edges, the
liner backing for convenience, on a roll that is easily written on and
easily stored...keeping it handy so you can WRITE, RIP, and APPLY
quickly and efficiently!
Here's how EvacuTape Saves TIME....
- No scissors needed - EvacuTape rips
easily
- No need to remove your gloves
- Reflective edges allow you to spot
the label in low light
- Increase safety with EvacuTape
"safety clothing on a roll"
- Write with pen, pencil, or marker
- Textured waterproof surface
preserves life saving information
- Write while it's still on the roll
- Handy liner prevents pre-application
wrinkling
- No smudging or rub-off's

The feedback
I've already received from First Responders has been awesome, and I'm so
thankful for their encouragement to bring this tape to market!
Here's what some of them are saying:

"I am stationed at Fort Polk LA. We were sent
to help with hurricane Katrina and Rita disaster
relief and decided to bring my roll of EvacuTape
along with me. I am glad I did, and never
thought it would be so useful. I used
it to mark the back of my soldiers' kevlars.
This greatly helped in identifying and keeping
track of the soldiers in my unit when the weather
was rough and the only light was from our
flashlights. Not only did I use it to mark my
soldiers but also the bumpers on our HMMWV's
(Hum-V's ) This is a great product and I hope that
someday it will be available in local stores.
Thanks for such a great product, and for letting
me test it."

"I am writing to
tell you how happy I am with the reflective tape
I received. Not long after I ordered the tape, I
began applying it for other uses. I used it for
labeling in the beginning; however, as time
progressed, I applied it to my hot water
heater, furnace, and anything of value.
It definitely came in handy as shortly
thereafter, hurricane Katrina came along, and
many items were found due to the reflection on
the tape. Due to the amount of injuries in
the area, I was able to pass along your tape to
EMTs who utilized the tape to record vital
information on the wounded.
Since my
relocation to another state, I have been able to
use the tape in a number of ways including the
perforated, duct tape! Both tapes have saved
me time, and assisted me in getting things
organized. Thank you so much for creating
the tapes. Without them, I am sure the outcome
would have been completely different."

In a combat medical situation
the tape proved to be valuable in a wound or injury evaluation
setting. The ability to rapidly write a patients
condition, nature of injury or wound and affix to any
surface makes the job of the evaluating medical
officer that much easier in an environment where
seconds count. The reflective visibility of the
tape provides location and identification of
the patient with the lowest of light sources, an
important element in light control zones.

I
found EvacuTape especially handy to wrap up EKG strips
up with the convenient liner, and to tape it directly
onto the patient chart information sheet.
During multiple trauma cases, it kept specific
information directly on the patients prior to
transport. Fantastic tool!
